Sunday is the First Week of Advent:
The Season of Advent is a very special time in the church. During Advent, we actively prepare our hearts and minds for the birth of Christ at Christmas. Here at school, the children will have the opportunity to participate in outreach projects. In anticipation of Christmas this short clip is a great reminder of how to prepare: “Advent in 2 minutes” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S02KOlw7dlA
First Week of Advent: We light this candle today to remind us that Jesus is our hope – and the hope of the world. We thank God for the promises he has made to us and for the light he has brought into the world. I encourage you to join us in prayer and reflection during this holy season of Advent. “May we spend these holy days together in prayer, penance, and hope, fixing our eyes on the appearance of Christ our Savior” @BishopBarron

Christmas Ornament:
In keeping with our annual tradition, a Christmas “ornament” was sent home with the youngest child in your family today. We would like each family to decorate a Christmas ornament to hang on our school Christmas tree. Please decorate your ornament however you wish. You may use any materials to decorate and personalize your family ornament (e.g., pictures, stickers, glitter). Don’t forget to carefully cut out your ornament and write your family name on the back. We will hole punch and tie a hanging ribbon to each ornament. Ornaments are due back by Friday, December 5th. We hope you enjoy this activity with your family.

Christmas Concerts Costumes:
We are looking for a baby to play Baby Jesus for our December 11th concerts 1:00 pm and 6:45 pm. If you have a baby between the ages of 1 month to 6 months and would like to be the “star of the show” please email the office. office@sfaschool.ca
Our Christmas Concerts are fast approaching and we would like to let you know what the students need to wear this year!
Please note: these costumes are the costume requirements for all concerts (Dec 10 & 11th Matinees & Evenings)
Unless your child has received specific instructions, we ask that all students dress in comfortable, Christmas clothing, of an “old fashioned” style – think ” London, 1843…”
Tops: “Dress” clothes are best, but classic Christmas/holiday t-shits or sweaters are also okay. Girls may wear Christmas dresses with sleeves or shoulders covered and tights underneath.
Please keep colours to: Red/Green/White/Black/Grey/Brown
Bottoms: Dark pants, If girls wish to wear skirts or dresses they need to be appropriate length and must have dark leggings underneath (no bare legs).
Feet: Please no running shoes
*Christmas hair pieces (bows, clips, barrets) are okay, as long as they do not block the view of the students behind.
NO: large, visible LOGOS (unless they are appropriate Christmas words or pictures)
NO: Santa Hats (they block students faces and visbility)
Please send your child’s costume to school in a bag on December 1st and their teacher will check it and send it back home.
